The Business Environment
Country reports from the Presidents of Packaging associations of: India, Thailand, China, VietNam & Russia focusing on the main drivers of their booming packaging industries: Domestic consumer demand, growth of retail replacing wet-markets (where there is little or no packaging), export oriented economies requiring packaging at source of production, etc. This will be followed by the practicalities & needs of the packaging industries in those countries.

Sustainability: The issues

Understand:

  • Consumer perceptions of packaging sustainability
  • What are the drivers of sustainability in packaging
  • The innovative uses of conventional technology
  • Cradle-to-cradle packaging in Asia: the realities
  • Metal as a viable replacement to plastic
  • The practical applications of bioplastics, starch & cellulose based renewable materials


The APF Annual Board Meeting will be held concurrently.
